CEU Course Description

Microlearning and nanolearning have recently surfaced as trends within the corporate world for training and professional development—and, now, these strategies are making waves in K-12 education. By focusing on hyper-targeted, accessible, engaging and brief lessons that only last from 5-15 minute, microlearning and nanolearning offer opportunities to save time and achieve more productivity for both students and teachers. This learning trend is based on neuroscience as well as the universal Zoom and learning fatigue that everyone experienced over 2020 and 2021. In this course, we’ll discuss the science fueling this educational strategy, as well as ways that teachers can begin to incorporate facets of microlearning in their existing curricula. How can you possibly teach something effectively in such tiny segments? We’ll delve into that question and others in this course.

CEU Course Objectives

  1. Distinguish between microlearning and nanolearning
  2. Discuss the neuroscience underlying the discrete benefits of microlearning and nanolearning
  3. Posit some benefits as well as some drawbacks of the microlearning and nanolearning philosophy
  4. Brainstorm ways that teachers can incorporate facets of microlearning without revamping their entire way of teaching
  5. Review ways that teachers can support remote students with microlearning modules
