CEU Course Description
Using Data in Differentiated Instruction equips educators with the knowledge and practical strategies needed to leverage student data to inform instruction and meet diverse learning needs in K–12 classrooms. This course emphasizes the importance of differentiation as an equity-driven approach, ensuring that all students—regardless of readiness, background, or ability—receive instruction tailored to their strengths and challenges. Participants will explore various types of classroom data, including formative and summative assessments, diagnostic tools, observations, and digital sources, and learn how to analyze and apply this information to guide lesson planning, pacing, grouping, goal setting, and social-emotional support. Real-world examples, case studies, and hands-on activities provide participants with opportunities to practice data-driven decision-making and develop actionable strategies for creating inclusive, responsive learning environments. By the end of the course, educators will be prepared to use data as a powerful tool to enhance engagement, close achievement gaps, and support equitable outcomes for all learners. Throughout this course, participants will learn about 1) the critical role of data in guiding differentiated instruction, 2) practical methods for analyzing and applying student data to inform lesson design, grouping, and goal setting, and 3) strategies for promoting equity, student voice, and agency in the data-driven classroom.
