CE Course Description

The purpose of this short, intermediate level course is to provide the participant with updated and relevant information about the current Common Core Standards Movement in education.  The course material is provided by the UCLA Mental Health in Schools Center and gives an excellent overview of curriculum content, teaching processes, learning supports, and other elements of the movement.  Barriers to learning and strategies to re-engage students in the learning process will also be discussed.

CE Course Objectives

1.  Discuss the key components of the Common Core State Standards Movement.

2.  List examples of risk-producing conditions that can be barriers to learning.

3. Describe learning supports that will address these factors and re-engage students in classroom instruction.

4.  Identify pertinent themes addressed in common core teaching standards.
