CEU Course Description

This short course provides tips and tools to help people ages 65 and over eat healthy foods and be physically active.  Course information was taken from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Weight Control Information Network (WIN), and reminds older adults how positive lifestyle choices will help maintain physical and emotional health.  Healthy body weight, nutrition guidelines, physical activity standards, and other factors that are pertinent to older adults are discussed.

CEU Course Objectives

1.  Discuss the importance of maintaining a healthy weight as well as standard measures to determine if a person is at an appropriate weight.

2.  Identify positive eating tips such as increasing and decreasing certain food and substances,  controlling portion sizes, and planning and preparing meals.

3.  Describe various types of physical activities recommended for older adults including benefits, choices, and suggested duration.

4.  Summarize general ways that older adults can take care of themselves to enhance overall health and well-being.
