CE Course Description
This brief course is designed to present the participant with developments and trends in U.S.education. The United States Congress has mandated that the National Center For Education Statistics (NCES) produce an annual report, The Condition of Education, which is the source of the information for this course. Topics covered include participation and persistence in education, student performance and other measures of achievement, the environment for learning, and resources for education.
CE Course Objectives
1. Evaluate trends in enrollment across all levels of education.
2. Examine student achievement and other outcomes of education.
3. Discuss how students proceed through school and attain different levels of education, as well as the factors that are associated with their progress along the way.
4 Identify aspects of the context for learning including student expectations, characteristics of educators, qualities of the learning climate, and processes of instruction.
5 Describe current characteristics of postsecondary education in the United States.
