CEU Course Description

Digital Tools for Early Childhood Educators equips teachers with the knowledge, strategies, and confidence to integrate technology purposefully and developmentally appropriately in early learning environments. The course explores how digital tools can enhance—not replace—play-based learning, creativity, and social-emotional development. Educators will examine the evolving role of technology in early childhood, discover frameworks that guide safe and equitable implementation, and learn to evaluate and select digital tools that align with young children’s developmental needs. Participants will also gain practical strategies for fostering digital citizenship, managing screen time, ensuring accessibility, and assessing learning through digital documentation and portfolios. Throughout this course, participants will learn about 1) the evolving landscape of technology in early childhood education and how it supports cognitive, social, and creative growth; 2) methods for addressing key concerns related to digital safety, equity, and responsible use; and 3) strategies for evaluating, selecting, and integrating digital tools that enhance learning experiences for both students and educators.
