CE Course Description
This brief continuing education course, developed using information from the National Institute of Mental Health and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, provides an overview of depression in children, adolescents, and young adults. Characteristics, symptoms, and types of depression are discussed as well as how depression impacts young people differently than adults. In addition, treatment options are outlined as well as where students can go for help.
CE Course Objectives
1. Discuss the prevalence, characteristics, and symptoms of depression in children, adolescents, and young adults.
2. Differentiate between various types of depression.
3. Identify where students of all ages can seek help when they are feeling depressed and review treatment options.
4. Summarize research findings pertaining to depression in young people as well as future research objectives.
